Erik was born and raised mainly in California. Descendant of Peruvian parents, he spent part of his youth growing up in his beloved Peru. That’s where his love for music and show began. He was part of school soccer teams and folklore dance shows. As a teenager Erik’s first loves were soccer and drums, even though his ultimate idol was Eddie Van Halen. He even spent time studying next to Dave Lombardo from Slayer. Unfortunately there was a decision to be made, drums or soccer, and at that time he chose the latter. Going back to his adoration for music and show, he picked up a guitar in early 2000’s to once again idolize EVH.
Erik has always loved music, he’d be the first to tell you how different songs have influenced many decisions in his life. “The soundtrack of my life has been made up by many different bands, solo artists and genres”. He’s been heavily influenced by bands such as Van Halen, Queen, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin as well as singers like George Michael, Bowie, Alison Moyet and Bryan Ferry. Loving many different genres of music is what influences his own style of music writing.
In the summer of 2013 he co-founded BASH with his writing partner Jimmie. Spending lots of time composing music and searching for band mates that felt as passionate about their songs. “You need passion in music in order for people to relate”. That is the message he believes BASH sends out to their audience. “Driven riffs, great melodies and a message that people can relate to is the perfect combination for an uproarious party”.
